The Beginning

Traumatic Impact Outdoors or TIO was created several years ago by a couple of twenty-something year old guys looking to make a name for themselves. Jared and myself worked as a Paramedic and EMT by night and hunted by day. Although we weren't "new" to hunting we did not know much about filming our hunts. We started from scratch with what camera gear we could afford and use. From a simple DSLR camera to using a cheap action camera, we made due with what we had. Together we decided to make a YouTube channel and create videos of our hunts. In order to do that we needed a logo, and boy did our first design come out funky. The logo and font we used in the first round of videos really bothers us to this day, but it was our start into the cinematography world.

The first couple years we attempted to film everything we could and quickly realized we needed to film more B-roll, or random clips of things. Making sure we caught the closeups of this or that. Filming us climbing into the tree-stands and climbing out of them. When it comes to filming in the woods it becomes a hassle. You carry all this extra equipment with you and spend extra time setting up and getting the right shots on film and hope that the real shots with the gun or bow makes it on a good frame in the camera. When it comes to filming a hunt, Jared and Myself try to switch off on who is filming. There have been numerous times where we had to self film due to conflicting schedules or a turkey that wont cooperate with us.

We created TIO to show people what it is to hunt. We started doing trade shows in the first few years selling some misc. merch we had. We are working on providing more merch and gear for the outdoors. We are starting to plan more hunts out of the area and attempting to get that "perfect hunt" on film. The perfect hunt is different person to person and for us, the perfect hunt is just being in the outdoors and experiencing the outdoor life that's out there.
